A true pastry stout is made a bit more drinkable by keeping the ABV low. A grist bill filled with caramel malts, chocolate malts, and oats build a sweet malt and subtle roast. A massive amount of lactose and a 3 hour boil bring an intense richness and thick mouthfeel. After finishing with maple syrup and ground cinnamon, this pasty stout will remind you of a morning filled with dense, syrup covered pancakes - about half a stack.

10 oz snifter, poured on draught at Braxton Labs.
L: Arrived in the snifter pitch black, with no head and no ring. The edges of the beer were a vaguely translucent cola brown.
S: Lactose, chocolate, vanilla, and breadiness form the nose.
T: See the aroma notes. Lactose, cream, and chocolate hit right up front, with faint tinges of vanilla and licorice manifesting as it moves along the palate. Lingers like a heavy cream mixed with chocolate syrup for the aftertaste.
F: Full bodied and heavy, as one wants in a stout.
O: A fairly tasty pastry stout.
