Classically American, boldly hopped and built in the Midwestern style of IPA, Braxton Brewing releases a no-nonsense hop bomb that's a comforting taste for hopheads of a few decades ago.
Pouring a medium amber and pale copper color, Switch builds a frothy eggshell froth and a perfumy scent of citrus, pine, grasses and herbs backed by caramel and potpourri. With a supple sweet taste, the early palate shares light toast and nuttiness in true granola form.
Rolling along the middle palate, the taste shifts from sweeter malts and toward bitter citrus with a bolder display of pink grapefruit, orange peel and a hint of apricot leading the way. A quick dissolve of malt sweetness allows the hops to develop a resinous bitterness that resonates like fresh spruce tips, grass clippings and peppery herb on the late palate.
Medium bodied and not as dry as west coast varieties, Swith isn't as smooth or juicy as hazy ale either. Hanging onto the British roots of balance, Braxton's IPA is a perfectly balanced beer that's a part of both worlds.

Copper color and clear. Off white head hangs around a bit and leaves some lacing
Smells of caramel grain and a nice citrus note. Smells very familiar like an old school American IPA.
Taste is a very good balance of fresh crystal malt and pine and citrus hops. A graininess in the finish that gets countered by a creamy hop bitterness. A bit of chewiness and bitterness after the sip is gone.
My sample is relatively fresh and it really is a nice IPA. More balanced than what a modern IPA would be and that is fine with me. This beer will need to be fresh as the modified grain and hops are gonna melt together.
15pk did not have a package date as far as I could tell so I had to roll the dice and luckily got fresh beer.
Will buy this again.

Pours a clear golden color with an oatmeal colored head that laces the glass nicely. Nice citrus and caramalt notes on the nose in the WCIPA style.
Even more in the WCIPA is the taste, which is filled with grapefruit and caramalt flavors, and the mouthfeel, which is very crisp and VERY dry. A really nice representation of the style, IMHO.

I'm trying a 5oz taster of this beer off the tapper at the brewery. It poured a clear copper with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of sweet malt and floral hop. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with caramel malt base and floral hop presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

At the brewery.
Not as bold as I expected. Hops are delivered smooth, not too overpowering.
Deep golden color, Massive white head with great retention.
Aroma of citrus and grapefruit and subtle pine.
Taste is more on the pine side...
