For the 2022 Dark Charge Maple Pecan variant, we took a different approach. This year we see barrels of Dark Charge get a sticky sweet addition of maple syrup and a long conditioning time on delicious roasted Georgia pecans. The result is our bold bourbon barrel-aged stout transformed into a tasty, decadent, nutty maple snack.

22 ounce bottle, 2022 vintage, bottle #0063/1400. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma, the maple hits right away along with some roasted malt, nuts/pecans, vanilla, and bourbon. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some coffee, burnt/charred malt, oak and dark bready flavors. Good amount of barrel character. It leans sweet tasting but not overpoweringly so. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and has a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew, glad I got to try this one!
