For over a year, we’ve taken one of Cincinnati’s Favorite Beers, Opera Cream Stout, and barrel-aged this delicious dessert in freshly dumped bourbon barrels. The result is a truly delicious pastry stout featuring fresh vanilla, coffee, and Bourbon undertones.
Even better, for this variant, we worked with the team at Party Source to add chocolate to create a robust creamy sweet flavor reminiscent of a mocha to contrast to the well-balanced flavor profile of this unique dessert stout!

500 ml bottle, no dating I noticed on it. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this bottle! Served in a BeerAdvocate chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch or so tan head that stuck around a little while. Good amount of lacing. The brew smells like roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate cake, coffee and a bit of bourbon. For the most part the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some blackberry, dark bread and dark chocolate flavors noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's coating and has a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a decent enough brew, but wish the mocha flavor was stronger. Glad I got to try this one!

From the 500ml bottle in a snifter. This unique brew pours a rugged dark
brownish black with a moderate head of tan foam that dissipates to a thin
ring, thin dusty layer, and sports some light lacing. Nose of dark chocolate,
dark malts, vanilla cream, subtle coffee, and faint bourbon. Flavors lightly
exceed the nose with light bourbon and dark cocoa up front, vanilla cream
and coffee flood the middle of the taste and finishes with a lightly cloying
malt note. Mouth feel is medium full leaning towards full, light carbonation,
and a sweet moderately cloying finish.
Overall, I surprised. The flavors are to me not well integrated with the
vanilla cream overpowering most everything in the brew. The Little Lady
and Myself are fans of Braxton, but this one could use some balance.
