Style: American Pale Wheat Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
Brewed in the style of a mid-19th century English Festival Ale, this unfiltered wheat beer displays a translucent orange color topped with a creamy, white head. Wheat enhances the mouthfeel of the beer and produces pleasant bread-like notes while Michigan honey provides a caramelized sweetness in the flavor profile. This beer is spiced with orange peel and coriander and small amounts of three hop varieties pleasantly counterbalances the sweetness.

Brewed with Michigan honey.

Hazy golden color, moderate head with some lingering lacing. Smells of sweet malt, wheat and some fruit. Tastes of citrus, wheat, caramel, malt and grains. Nice carbonation but slightly strong wheat aftertaste. A little bit of spice and honey in there as well. Mild and thin mouthfeel. Would have to try other beers in this style to compare.

12oz bottle poured into a pint

A- pours a hazy golden color with a thick and frothy white head that has great retention long after the pour

S- toasted grains, coriander, citrus, toasted wheat

T- toasted malt up front, quickly followed by a honeyed sweetness. Mid-palate gives some peppery coriander notes, along with some orange zest. The finish gives some toasted wheat, along with more honey sweetness

M- medium body and carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp dry finish, high drinkability

O- easy drinking summer beer

this is better than its ratings, a little something different. it doesnt have the right yeast complexion to be a belgian wit, its got orange and coriander so doesnt really fit the american wheat plan, and sort of floats in a middle area between them which i think is a great place to be, not many beers satisfy this strange niche. very pale hazy orange color to this, and a holey but high pure white inch of head. orange peel right away in the nose, the wheat malt, and a more simple yeast, bready like some of the english strains but tough to pinpoint. the hops are subtle here, but they have a citrus note too. the flavor is not exactly elegant, but its better refined than it appears to be getting credit for on this page. the honey makes the beer floral and summery and neat, without adding more sweetness than it needs. i find the orange to make it a little bitter, which i like in the finish. the grain doesnt taste super fresh to me (a problem i seem to always have with beers from these guys), but i like that it doesnt add too much body, and with the high carbonation, this is every bit a summer crusher. not much coriander here, but i dont miss it. kudos for making something a little different. i like the subtle honey and the different yeast. does not fit into a style category well, but its tasty beer. underrated.

Nice summer brew. Orange and similar citrus fill the flavor spectrum. Easy to drink. Refreshing. Would work nicely iced down in a cooler on your deck or at the pool.
