Good
Notes: Dry-hopped with Columbus hops in our open fermenters, our IPA boasts a bright floral aroma and flavor reminiscent of pine and lemon peel. The pronounced hop bitterness is balanced by a medium-bodied caramel and biscuity malt character with a nutty finish. It showcases many subtle earthy bitter notes, rather than the resinous citrus-rind bite often featured in many American-style IPA's.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours deep orange with just a hint of red, and a fluffy white head. Smells of citrus hops, but weakly. Tastes of earthy and citrus hops, nice balance with the grain. Beer is light bodied but heavily carbonated. Overall, an above average beer.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a semi-hazy golden color with a finger and a half’s worth of white frothy head. Sly lace. The aroma had a bright citrusy hop burst over some earthy hop bitterness. Light leafy dryness with a little bit of floral to herbal character. The flavor dryly leaned towards the sweet side in a malty sort of way. Hop tones seem a bit dispersed to allow the malt base become a bit sturdier and run throughout the aftertaste. Slight malty sort of finish. The feel was almost medium bodied with a good carbonation about it. ABV felt as appropriate. Fairly smooth along my tongue. Overall, pretty nicely done English styled IPA that seemed a bit cleaner than others of it's style brewed by Americans. I'd definitely give this another try if every seen again.

Dark yellow, 1/3" white head. Aroma was mostly grain and alcohol, not even noble hops penetrated the senses here.

Taste is your traditional English ipa, went for the woody malt tones, toffee and earth. Balanced. Goes for those biscuit nuts in the mouthfeel. Mild tea herbal tones. Average carbonation. Pretty average stuff.

Not getting much of the hop aroma off the top. Held a nice creamy head for a short amount of time. Beer may be a little flat. Tastes like a general IPA. Get a lot of the hop bitterness up front without a lot of malt character. Medium body, not very carbonated. Finishes with bitterness. Overnall, not the most well balanced IPA out there, but drinkable.

Had on cask at Big E's in Midland.poured into a standard pint a brass color with that flat creamy cask head atop.Very light aromas, mild floral hops and light toasted malt. An English IPA no doubt here for the flavor profile, herbal and grassy hops over top of bready lightly sweet malts.A subtle easy drinking IPA,sociable but actually a little boring.

Arcadia IPA.

Don't remember the last time I actually had a beer from Arcadia. Has to have been at least a few years or so. They just don't really put much out these days it seems. Anyway' found a single of this beer for $2.19 and figured it was time to re-visit a brewery I liked quite a bit in the past. Haven't had many English style IPAs since Commodore Perry. Hoping for the best. Let's pour it!.

Look - From the twelve ounce bottle into a pint glass. An attractive beer straight out of the gate. Pours a slightly murky amber hue with just a touch of copper to give off the vibe of a setting sunset while looking at the beer in the light. The head is about a finger and a quarter tall and just slightly off white. It retains exceptionally well as a thick highly set cap amongst the top of the swill. Carbonation appears to be about medium. Lacing and stick left appears like heavy blood splatter from a murder scene.

Smell - A lot like the citra beer I jist drank prior to this one. A lot of floral aspects going on in the nasal passages with a bubble gum ordeal type of thing. Interesting level of clove for the style. Malts are slightly darker smelling than white bread but I surely wouldn't say it had been baked. A noticable dosage of lemon if you really choose to look for it.

Taste - The flavor profile starts off lemon like with a large amount of flower power and maltyness to match and balance things. It remains this way throughout the drink and there is a very sweet and pleasant bubble gum and jolly rancher eswue sweetness on the back end that lingers around the back of the throat. As the beer warms there is almost a Dortmunder level grassyness that meets up with the hops and takes a bit of a backseat. Bitterness is on the lower side of moderate.

Feel - The body is quite full and largely grainy with bigger aspects of the whole Dortmunder thing I mentioned came through as the beer warmed. Bitterness gets a bit stronger as the beer sits. As it sits even moreso the body becomes thinner. Carbonation stays steady at moderate levels and the beer swallows medium lightly if that makes sense.

Overall - I liked this one quite a bit more than K had initially expected give the average level ratings this one appears to receive. Sessionable as hell without the sweetness and more of the bitter good stuff. Think a lot of the distaste may come from the fact people fail tk acknowledge that this is an English IPA and not and American, thus and so the flavor profiles will vary. Overall this is an easy drinker that I think you should try for sure, may even make its way into my regular rotation for when I need a slight change from the run of the mill American ipas..

Not the best IPA I've had, but not bad. Like other Arcadia beers I've tried, it's sour in a way that is not appropriate for the style, and a thin body.

Not your typical IPA, which is fine with me. The color is a nice orange-amber with a light head and some lacing. It has an definite lemon pepper smell. The flavor is a bit malty, with an earthy slightly tangy finish. It is not very bitter at all. I guess this makes it an English style IPA. A nice drinking beer.

This was not good. Super foamy, carbonated, almost sour flavor with mild hop bitterness. This is the strangest ipa I have ever had. Lots of sediment in there too, and not in a good way. Sometimes it can be appealing, this looked like dirt and sand.

A: The beer is clear amber in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that gradually died down, leaving a thin film of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of leafy floral hops are present in the nose along with hints of toasted malts.
T: The taste has flavors of biscuit and toasted malts along with a light to moderate amount of hop bitterness. Faint hints of nutty sweetness are noticeable towards the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The taste of this IPA has a really nice balance between the malty flavors and hop bitterness.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 6/6/2014. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, toast, biscuit, and floral/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops, bready malt, and fruity yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, pine, floral, grass, light caramel, toast, biscuit, and floral/yeast earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, pine, floral, grass, toast, biscuit, and floral/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Good complexity and balance of citrus/pine hops, bready malt, and fruity yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a good English IPA. All around good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops, bready malt, and fruity yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a hazy copper-amber color with some floaties and with a super intense head of white foam that prevents the beer from being poured in a single pour. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading over time to where more beer could be poured into the glass. Eventually all the head faded away to leave a little bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is bready with mostly a citrus hop aroma of grapefruit. Along with these smells are some floral hops and a dank pine hop smell as well as a little bit of a tropical fruit sweetness.

Taste – The taste begins with a very lightly toasted and bready flavor with a moderate showing of tropical fruit sweetness of tangerine and a little bit of mango. There is a bitter grapefruit hop upfront that creates a hop base for the brew. While there are tropical fruits upfront, they later fade being replaced by a little bit of a caramel flavor. Along with the change in sweeter flavors also comes an increase in the hop with the grapefruit getting accompanied a stronger some pine and a bit of an herbal taste. A little bit of tangerine and mango come back to the tongue at the end, with the mix of flavors leaving a somewhat dank hopped, but still malty and lightly fruity flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather average in its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the style a little lower carbonation may have been better for the dank hop and bready tastes, but overall the feel was pretty decent.

Overall – An alright IPA that is slightly more dank and resinous in hop profile. It was alright, but nothing too special overall, with me likely taking other IPA’s of comparable price and abv. over this one.

Poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a misty but vibrant golden/amber color. Beautiful color, really. There's a lot of of frothy khaki head that leaves some lacing along the side, and a little carbonation.

S: Hops and citrus. That's about it. Nice and strong and pretty simple and standard. If I use my imagination, I might be getting some coriander or strawberry, but I basically have to be drowning in it to come up with those aromas.

T: Hops and citrus again. It's not flat by any means. It is bright and vibrant. Once again, I don't know if I'm getting some other flavors (maybe there's some earthiness), but it is pretty good.

M: Maybe a little too much carbonation and dryness at the end, but it is rich and full and gives a robust quality to a robust style.

O: It is standard, but this is a very well done IPA that is vibrant enough to make it worth your while.

A: Dark copper, with brown and red tints. Clear with medium high carbonation. Surprising low head out of the bottle, however left a respectable layer of white foam for the long haul.

S: Wheat crackers, some rye bread and zesty citrus of orange rind. Maybe a little spiciness of lemongrass.

T: Cedar. Walnut. Orange rind. This brew had a nice chewy malt backbone. Nice long and slow pipe tobacco, malt vinegar and balsamic finish.

M: Starts off watery and juicy. Nice and Medium dry through the middle. Dryness lingers but remains mellow. Low acidity for your usual ipa. Really easy going.

O: Great everyday ipa. It's mellow and drinkable. The malt balances the hop nicely making it extremely versatile. The only downside to being a well rounded beverage means that it doesn't stand out in any particular way in the hops department.

Don't know why this beer garners such unenthusiastic reviews. I just had one, bought at random, and it's a delightful surprise. The flavor is citrusy without being over the top, and there is enough hoppiness and malt to be rewarding. True, it doesn't really come across as an IPA, and I think that's part of the problem: what is it, exactly? Honestly, I don't care - it's worth having on hand.

Orange in color with a thick head of foam, Arcadian IPA is pleasing to the senses upon first inspection. The foam holds its own for a while and the nose is one of citrus, mango, pine, and caramel malt and it’s quite nice.

Now for the taste. This IPA doesn’t disappoint and its flavors are about what I expected based on the nose. The flavors of citrus, mango, caramel malt, and some pine are present, joined by tastes of bready malts, some grassiness, pineapple, and a slight buttery character. The body of the beer is medium overall and it’s less bitter than other IPA.

This beer is a little different from other IPA I have tried, but I must say that I find it agreeable and like it more as I drink more. At first, I was a little put off by the buttery component to the taste, but I took a liking to it once I opened a second bottle and actually find it interesting. The taste is less bitter than others of this style and it seems like an IPA that most will find at least acceptable. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

A: Pours a clear reddish/orange color. At first a large pillowing white head forms, with good retention. Rings of lace are left down the glass.
S: A big mango like hop punch up front. Floral and citrus like as well. Then the malts. Caramel, lightly buttery, bread. Pretty good.
T: Mango, citrus, floral hops up front and potent. A bit on the oil and soapy side. Buttery malt is a bit more apparent here. Not bad, just kind of muddled and confused.
M/D: A light to medium body with moderate carbonation. A very oily consistency, and a bit on the thin side. Not hard to drink. Bottle will be gone in no time, and the six pack won't go to waist.

Not bad, but a bit of style confusion. At first a mango citrus like west coast style IPA, then the buttery malt tries to balance. Not the best example of the style, but enjoyable for what it is.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. I've had this beer before, but it's been quite a long time, so I'm interested to try it again. Expectations are decent, based on Arcadia's good reputation.

Poured into a Miller Lite pint glass.

A - Pours a hazed coppery burnt sienna orange colored body with some brown highlights when held to the light. Two fingers of beige off-white head. Lots of active carbonation. Tons of bubbles rushing topside. Some dark specks of sediment lingering. Looks pretty nice to me.

S - Smell is pretty bland and uninspired. Very bready. Some soapiness. Some overripe banana. And a hint of orange & pineapple just to remind you that there are hops & malts in there. Smells pretty boring, though..

T - Taste is a step up from the lackluster nose. Some bready malt, lager yeasty type taste, some spicy cloves, bubblegum malt, crisp carbonation, some fruity pineapple, & just a hint of brown sugar.

M - Feel ends sticky, bitter, and dry, with some sugary green apple skin lingering on the palate.

Overall, a decent English style IPA from Arcadia. While this isn't exactly my preferred style, it is a more approachable version. Easy drinking at 6.00% abv, I enjoyed this quite a bit more than some of the others I've had. Recommended.
