12oz bottle into a goblet. 2009 vintage.
Looks fantastic in the glass. Dark reddish brown body, clear ruby red when held up to the light. Initially, there is a massive craggy off white head. This shrinks to a fat collar and solid covering, leaving layers of lacing.
Sweet boiled candy aroma with a hint of smoke.
On tasting, sweet, strong, with hints of smoke, bitterness, and toast.
Mouth slightly above medium, finish strong alcohol with a faint bitter note.
Overall, a bit all over the place ratings-wise. The nose and mouth are a bit wanting, but the look and taste are very good.

2010 vintage; drank 1/6/15 @ the Yarchives.
Poured form the bottle into a glass.
Opaque orange rust appearance.
A rough pour yielded a minimal off-white head; minimal lace.
Raisin, caramel & autumn leaves in the nose.
Thick mouthfeel.
Raisin, caramel & autumn leaves in the flavor; a hint of booze emerged as this warmed. I have no idea what this is like fresh, but 4-5 years in it's a delicious, sturdy beast.

I shouldn't be reviewing what I'm just about certain was an oxidized to hell bottle of beer... but here we go. Note to self: RE-TRY THIS BEER!
This beer poured beautifully, and even had a nice aroma to it -- for the most part. I got an underlying cardboard sort of smell that made me super nervous. Putting this beer to my lips, I just about cringed. Bitter, tasting of old, old hops, and filled to the brim with waterlogged cardboard ... not at all pleasant. I let it warm up, and it helped nothing. The feel was decent despite this big disaster, but I couldn't get past the flavor.
Needless to say, I drank an ounce or two, and drain poured the rest. Will need to give this a fair shake again soon.

Big Dick's is ok for a sipping beer....its high in abv which makes it more for winter...not one for having more than one. The beer pours a nice amber with white head that is not lacing. The scent is mellow...some bread. The taste is bitter and slightly sweet...almost borderline barley wine. The mouthfeel is fuller in body with subtle carbonation. Overall its worth a try....but I would buy a six or four of it.

The beer pours a cloudy gold. The aroma is almost as if it's a barrel aged beer. There is no hint of hops. The first impression of its taste is its sweetness -- almost too much -- with some maltiness and slight funk and hops. Unlike the aroma, there is no barrel aged character in the taste. The beer has a full body and light carbonation. Overall, it is a good beer but not likely one that I'd go back to often.

Served at the Kalamazoo brewery in a snifter.
Alright aroma but the flavor just wasn't up to the level of something like Third Coast Old Ale. Had a hop bitterness on the end that I thought didn't mesh well with the malts.
