750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/17/2018. Bit of a gusher opener. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/amber/light ruby red color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy red/black raspberry, blueberry, cherry, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, pear, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and lightly toasted bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of cherry/berries, fruity/funky/acidic yeast, pale malts, and oak barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big red/black raspberry, blueberry, cherry, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, pear, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and lightly toasted bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Touch of oaken vanilla. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy cherry, berries, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, pear, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, bread, light leather/funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of cherry/berries, fruity/funky/acidic yeast, pale malts, and oak barrel flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and yeast/oak spiciness balance; with no puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tartness, tangy fruit, yeast/oak spiciness, and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/acidic/tangy, and fairly crisp/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 12%. Overall this is an outstanding fruited sour/wind ale. All around awesome cherry/berries, fruity/funky/acidic yeast, pale malts, and oak barrel flavors; very smooth, crisp, and dangerously easy to drink for the huge ABV, with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Not overly lactic. Awesome balance of jammy fruit, Brett/Bacteria complexity, pale/wheat malts, and oak barrel presence. Minimal residual sweetness from lingering dryness. Very well attenuated. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Really impressive for how big of ABV it was! Expected it to be much sweeter.
