Sampled from draft into a 20 oz weizen glass. Pours a hint darker than the straw yellow of an average macro. A soapy white head with excellent lacing throughout the drink.

Smells good. Can get a whiff of it as soon as it's set down in front of you. Citrus notes and a sweet spring floral scene.

Taste is not too bad. It's a standard session APA style with hops front to back but not too strong. Not much bitterness or bite from the hops. Very drinkable and light bodied. Went down smooth as a throwback should.

An average to good beer from a brewery I had not heard of. Definitely something you could have a six pack of anytime.

L - pours a gently opaque golden yellow. Kinda like a saison. Big boisterous fluffy head and a lot of nucleation that almost looks like rain drops against a window in reverse. Neat.

S - strong lemongrass up front with the faintest floral seeetness.

T - much more malt forward that the nose suggests. Some sweetness, but a lot of hollow hops. You know the type: fragile, baby's first step kind of hops. Not a whole lot of backbone. Like a wobbly wobbly Jenga game that's gonna come tumbling down with a cough. Light lemon rind and crisp apple.

F - pretty damn carbonated. It's big and soft, but too much foam. How are you supposed to session these when you're gulping down half air?

O - they weren't kidding with the name. The beer looks great, but is pretty weak in all other areas. Hell, it's not even a good session ale because it's hard to drink foam. Like am overcarbonated saison.

Pour is a pale straw color with a slight haze to it. A finger of soapy head rests on top, leaving sticky lacing behind. Arcadia promises tropical and citrus notes, and there they are. More in the aroma than the taste. Grapefruit and orange zest with cocktail syrup, and biscuit malt underneath. Malt is more pronounced in the taste, with citrus hops coming in on the end. Definitely a session Ale, very light on aroma and flavor, feel is on the thinner side.

Arcadia's Cheap Date Session Ale pours a hazy orange color. The head is a solid cap of white foam that recedes slowly leaving nice rings of lacing. The aroma is hoppy, and juicy. There are some tangerine, anf floral notes. The taste is less hoppy than the aroma. The same flavors are there, but they are muted. The mouthfeel is thin without being watery. The carbonation is ample. Overall, this is a decent beer, but I don't see myself drinking it again.

Look: It pours an opaque yellow-orange with a nice frothy white head (1 cm in thickness) up top. The pour was not too aggressive as I only leveled out the snifter at the tail end, and left about an ounce in the bottle. Head retention is modest, but good, with decent lacing.

Aroma: The aroma has a citrusy punch to it. Other notes include pine hops, orange, and biscuit malts buried at the back. While the citrus is nice, the rest of the aroma feels lacking.

Taste: The flavor profile works through citrus, orange, pine and sticky hops, and a biscuit malt base. The taste has a bit of an overarching lactic, sour feel to it. No single note stands out in the forefront, as this beer remains well balanced and painfully tame.

Feel: As the beer hits the palette, it expands a bit, which feels reminiscent of a champagne de bier. Otherwise the carbonation is a bit abrasive and forward, giving this beer a rough feel. A medium consistency gives this beer good body and feel otherwise.

Overall: A meh beer. The mouth feel is certainly interesting. Overall, Cheap Date is certainly kept at a session-able level, but not something that would be too fun drinking throughout a session. The label art and beer name are fun.

Served in a 12oz snifter.

I have an affinity for Michigan beers and when I spotted this one as a single at The Foodery (Rittenhouse Square) during a recent foray to PHL, I snapped it up. I also like the labels on the Arcadia beers, so that was a bonus.

From the bottle: "1% to Kalamazoo River Valley Trail". That's nice of them to do that.

I Pop!ped the cap and gave it a heavy-handed pour, creating three-plus fingers of dense, rocky, bone-white head with excellent retention. Color was Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4) with NE-quality clarity. In total, it looked like a slice of lemon meringue pie in my glass. How pretty! Nose was an interesting mix of grass, tropical fruit and fresh mint. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was more towards papaya and mango, but there was also a cool mintiness to the taste. The finish was dry, kind of biscuity, more minty than fruity, but very pleasant. I generally eschew "session beers/ales", but if they were to put this in a CAN, I could see putting it in the summer cooler.

Love the label for some reason. Pours light yellow with generous frothy head. Smells delightful of oranges and flowers. Does not come through as much in flavor which is mostly floral with some sour notes and fairly watery. Overcarbonated. Drinkable English style pale ale, not as IPA like as I expected. If someone doesn't like a hoppy beer and likes a good carbonated kick for a finish, then this is the one for you.

This one is a pale yellow in color with a mild murkiness lending itself to translucency in the body. The slightly tinted head is a moderately sized fluffy one that takes some time to fade to a heavy layer. Pretty good lacing is dropped as it goes.
The smell is mild at first, then puts in a good dose of flowery and earthy hops with some dryness. The malts are crusty if not crackery. This all translates to the flavor, and it offers a dry bitterness akin something I might expect from English hop varietals, and the same can be said of the malts. A little juiciness comes out before a certain chalkiness follows, and there's a bit of a spent grains taste underneath. It's not enough to take away too much. There's a certain mineral aspect underlying as well.
This beer is well carbonated, fluffy, and crisp. It gets a bit foamy toward the middle but holds steady, running semi-dry into a dry finish with a light medium body.
