Listed as a pale ale with Key Lime juice, it makes an excellent summer beer. It has a rich, golden/light tan color that immediately holds promise.
IDR looks a bit like a Belgian style tripel, both in it's clear golden color and in the slightly foamy head.
The aroma is a nose-pleasing combination of floral hops, bready malt, and the Key Lime juice. Almost how a bite of Key Lime pie would taste if it were to have an overload of crust.
Even though it's a pale ale, IDR is not overly hoppy. The first taste you notice is a pleasing undercurrent of the lime juice. This is followed by moderate floral hops, finishing with a mellow malt taste. Then there's an aftertaste of the hops, making you want to take another sip.
Mouth feel is a bit creamy, with mild carbonation.
While not a stereotypical pale ale, IDR delivers a great balance of flavors.
