Drank from a 12 oz can purchased from a mix pack; no birth date. Tastes of crisp hops upfront with slight sweetness coupled with some bitterness. A bit of malt on the back. Not bad

Poured from a freshness dated 12 oz. can: bright and clear, golden hue with a quickly receding, foamy white head.
The aromas are somewhat weak with hints of noble hops and spicy malt
Now, this is a rather unique interpretation of a traditional Helles lager. It does have the elements I have come to expect - very nice bready flavors with a hint of lemon as well as European hops. The lager is extremely clean and refreshing and quaffable with a thirst-quenching quality. However, there is a sharpness in the mouthfeel that is not typically found with this style. Upon reviewing the brewery's website, I discovered that the New Zealand hop "Pacifica" is used to give the lager "a touch" of marmalade. Perhaps that is the difference. In any event, this is a fine lager and certainly a repeat.
The mouthfeel is also crisp and effervescent with plenty of zesty carbonation. I am glad to see Oyster City is now canning three of their beers - the others are the brown ale and IPA.

Sipped out of a Teku 14 oz glass. Color is similar to many pale ales and Helles as it is very pale and golden. There is a very light head of foam. There is a typical malty bread note with a very subtle honey sweetness and a slight hoppiness. This beer does not jump out of the glass. The taste is not much different. This is a very simplistic beer but it is wildly refreshing and inviting. This beer begs to be drunk out on a boat, at the beach, at the pool or mowing the lawn. This is one of the easiest craft beer 6 packs to down all at once. The mouthfeel is excellent for a Helles which makes me put it down quickly. This beer won't change your life but if you drink it as intended you will learn to fall in love with it. It really does feel good to drink a craft beer that doesn't fight you.
