Much like its predecessors, DeliveryMan (pizza) and El Hombre (tacos), our third birthday beer seeks to pay homage to another pillar of the American diet, sausage. And with all due respect to Hot Doug and Old Man Vienna Beef, everyone knows the true Sausage King of Chicago balls hard at Chez Quis, is devastatingly handsome, and goes by the name of Abe.

Our Helles Lager features a delicate hop profile of Saaz and Hersbrucker, over a light malt base of Pilsner, Dark Munich and Acidulated malts. Whether on it's own or with your favorite encased meat, A.FroMan continues our tradition of birthday beers that are light and crisp and ready to celebrate.

7/8/19 (Chicago): 12 oz undated can purchased for $2.25 on 6/30/19 from Beer on the Wall. Poured into pint glass, pale yellow straw pour, generous carbonation, white head dissipates with nominal lacing. Nice lemon grassy bread aroma. Nice blend of malt and fresh bread taste, grassy lemon brings a full range to this pour. Carbonation holds well, nice medium body offering, clean and crisp, great summer drinking! Overall excellent offering, will grab more!

Appearance: Pours a deep golden color with a noisy head that angrily forms, but fades rather quickly, like a soda.
Aroma: Strong aroma of sweet lemon and honey. Some malt liquor notes too.
Taste: Very subtle lemon & grassy noble hops, but strong malt flavors of sweet lemon and honey drive the show. Some sweet caramel and toasted bread underneath. Some malt liquor flavor too. Finishes rather sweet. Similar to honey glazed monkey bread.
Feel: Heavy-bodied. Mild carbonation, but appropriate. A sticky and rich honey-thick astringency on the tongue. Nice body for the style.

Overall: A excellent helles lager. Slightly stronger, heavier, and sweeter than I expected. A little sweeter and heavier than needed. I would describe it as very similar to drinking honey from the hive. Honey and sweet lemon flavors really stand out, but the heavy honey-thick body is there to match it. There is a slight darker caramel to this which is nice too. A great take on a helles style that isn't too common here in the states.
