this is by far and away the best beer i have had from these guys, its really advanced compared to everything else theyve done so far, and its downright fantastic. a soured amber type, aged in wine barrels with cherries. for me its really excellent, just tart, not real acidic like their berliner, cleaner too on that front, probably some regular ale yeast working on the fermentation too. the cherries are really forward and authentic, not sweet in the least, and the wine barrel character is enormous. its both tannic and fruity from the wine, sharp even with the acidity from the souring cultures, but its also super oaky, especially in the nose, musty and funky, delightful. the flavor of this beer is awesome, and its not so strong or sour that i cant make a session out of it. the one critique for me is the feel. while the carbonation is fine and the fuller medium body is a nice change of pace in a fruited sour, there is a ton of crap in the bottom of the glass, both glasses i had were littered at the bottom with a gummy particulate that i couldnt tell if it was weird yeast coagulant or bits of old cherries or what, but it was chewy in the last sips, and it grossed me out a bit. refine that out of it, and you have a medal worthy brew in my opinion.
