a darn fine example of the style here, nothing about it deviant at all from what we expect in a good irish stout. these guys have their nitro game on point too, everything they serve in this format is perfect from a technical nitro standpoint. this is creamy and rich in its head, coal black in color, and lacy all the way down the glass with each pull. one of those beers that feels like its gone in four sips. i think they brewed this up for saint patricks day, and its really pretty textbook. a nice earthy roasted low end with a lot of bitterness, some coffee character, bakers chocolate, but no sweetness at all, and super mellow in all aspects. maybe some oats in this one too, it has a lot of body and is creamy beyond its nitro format. i love the flavor of the irish ale yeast coming through, and this is bone dry in the finish, exactly how i like it. these guys can fall victim to their own ambition at times, and i really think their best beers are the ones brewed true to more traditional styles. this is really excellent and infinitely drinkable. very very well done!
