Draft, consumed at Gordon Biersch Pasadena on 12/03/07.

Dark caramel brown hue. Cloudy with thin skin of foam. Cane sugar and molasses in aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Vinous, white grape juice flavor. Yeasty, spicy character. Some alcohol flavor. No hops to speak of in flavor. Again, dry finish. Odd tasting beer.

I couldn't finish my half liter.

Served in a mug, a murky dark brown with a big fluffy off-white head. I didn't note much from the aroma but the taste was very heavy for a lager. Very malty taste, maybe slightly roasted but more of a deep caramel type maltiness. There was also a lot of alcohol present in both the taste and mouthfeel. I wasn't sure how high at the time but I would have guessed in the 7.5-8% area. Not a bad beer overall, I would recommend getting it during the winter if one finds themselves at Gordon Biersch.
