Y'know, even as I give this less than stellar scores... I wonder... am I a part of the problem with the low scoring lagers and session beers on the site? Not that a 7% beer is sessionable... but what this beer does is drink well, easily, and smoothly.
In some sense, it's flawless. There's no off flavors, it has a rich, malty middle with superb balance, a touch of spice and a clean dry finish. Medium to full-mouthed. My only legitimate knock is that the head dies, disappears, and is gone, with no lacing to be found. I would knock the appearance down more, but it is a superb, richly golden hued brew.
I mean, I wouldn't go recommending this as a "go get this today" beer to my beer-loving friends, but damn, wouldn't it be great if more like this were readily and widely available?

Draft, consumed at Gordon Biersch Pasadena on 12/03/07.
Intense, clear golden hue. No carbonation in evidence save for the thin ring around glass edge. No aroma. Yeasty flavors, spiciness on palate. Fruity (apricots, maybe?) with some restrained hoppiness. Dry on finish.
Good drinking.
