Actually billed as a Double Red or Imperial Red, and worthy of that designation. An exceptionally tasty and unusual beer.
Appearance: Deep, clear, amber-red with moderate foaming and lace.
Aroma: Sweet caramel malt and citrus.
Taste: Just like the smell huge red grapefruit blast tempered with loads of sweet caramel (and maybe a little chocolate?) malt. Have never had a beer quite that distinct in its citrusy hoppiness (Amarillos, Cascades, others?). I almost expected the finish to be pulpy after that amazing flavor. Hoppy, yet not really bitter. Is that even possible? Apparently so. Only the slightest hint of alcohol is noticeable.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, I suppose. Very little astringency.
Drinkability: Waaaay too easy to drink for something that I think was supposed to be 8% or higher ABV.
