At the tap room, into a snifter. Pours a clear rust amber, with small insubstantial head that dissipates quickly. Nose turns out to be the best part: piney, bready, maybe a little spice. Taste is good...what the nose suggests, but a little muted. The distinguishing dimension is a bready almost grainy and chewy flavors that is very wholesome, and I guess one way that one can take the rye, but not what I was suspecting. I’m not getting any of the spice notes On the tongue I was hoping for, and the body is kind of thin, there’s no bite or bitterness. So...still good, but so many beers from these guys are so good, that I was getting my hopes up...maybe too high.
