2019 notes:
Rum, whiskey, and bourbon barrel aged Stout. 10.5 % ABV. 60 IBU. Bottled 11/20/18. Sisyphus Brewing, Minneapolis, MN.

Utter and abject darkness. Slim cocoa-tinged head atop.

In the nose: Bourbon hits first, strong, dark, malty, vanilla and cherry. Ridiculously rich and chocolatey. Definitely decadent. Whole lot o' cocoa going on.

In the mouth: Whoa. Whoa-oh, oh, oh, oh. Chewy chocolate. Deep darkness, massive malt. I love alliteration and I can't stop myself. Bourbon barrel effects are in full effect. Smothers over the contributions of the rum, and straight whiskey? A bit.

Caramel, burnt toffee, a touch of anise, some notes of dark fruit. I'm a sucker for this stuff, and I think it's one of Sisyphus' finest creations. I shared one bottle with the family at Christmas, and cracked this one open to take notes. I'll be back for more, to stick in the closet for saving and cellaring.

It's hot and thick and humungous. And I like every lick of it.

After having a glass of this in the taproom, we laid out for a 750ML bottle. Wish this place were closer to home. I say that a lot. Good thing they aren’t. Split with my wife.

Black. Sunless night black. Nose is surprisingly light: little chocolate, little rum, little bourbon. All good reasons to get out of bed in the morning.

Hat Trick leans heavily on the Havana Club 7. Up front is all rum, with the bourbon playing the Boyd Crowder supporting role. Surprisingly, not boozy at all. Underneath the barrels is sumptuous complexity: sweet malt, vanilla, chocolate solids, touch of char, anise, & fingers run lightly through my hair. Thick & heavy, in a good way. I could have stood for more than half the bomber.

This is awesome. I’ve never been disappointed by Sisyphus, & need to make it a point to get over there more often. Excellent beer.

On tap. Tan head. Black color. Bourbon and rum show the most. Sweetness and molasses from the rum, vanilla from the bourbon. I think the other barrels are scotch as there is a peat flavor. Full bodied. Really solid.
