Got this from Emma and Terry. Cheers!
From a 500ml bottle into a snifter
Apparently they've re-released this one, but this review is from the original December 2019 bottling
APPEARANCE: Pours our clear brown and yields a two finger, medium looking, creamy light tan head with excellent retention. Bistre brown body with higher levels of carbonation. Head slowly fades to a full wisp. A solid wisp remains leaving sheets of lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Roasted notes, lightly smoked aromas, smoked salami, some chocolate and tobacco on the nose.
TASTE: Roasted and smoked malts up front, hints of tobacco, then some roasted, smoked malt again at the sallow. Touches of caramel. Bold finish is roasted, smoky, with dark chocolate, touches of tobacco and some bitter coffee lingering on the palate. Solid and flavorful.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy enough on the palate, goes down fine and finishes a bit mouth-coating. No real heat lingers.
OVERALL: This held up quite nicely. A little light in color, but very well balanced and some great sticky lacing. Good smoked stout for sure. Would be nice to try it fresh as well. Cheers!
