Went here on Friday night, 3/4. Place is a bit small, bar seats about 8 people, limited seating throughout. It's kind of a indie music centered dive bar, some eclectic stuff on the walls and vinyl records on the ceiling. Fridge has some bottled and canned goodies, about a dozen taps of pretty solid stuff. Ended up with the Kent Falls, but I was tempted to get others if I wasn't feeling a bit under the weather. Food seems like small plates mostly, had fried pickles that were really good. Service was very friendly but on Friday only one person working the bar. Cool place to chill, for sure.
I love the Outer Space, what can I say? I feel the need to give them a review, since there isnt much here on them. It is part of a complex that has two other venues, all music related. The Space is across the parking lot, all ages music no alcohol. The Ballroom is next door, and is a nice sized stage for larger shows, and there is a small bar that offers a small variety.
The Outer Space itself... sweet.
Walking in, you are met with a lot of memorobilia, a lot of it old train related. cool old school vibe. The bar is a smaller cozy one, seating around 8, with a nice lounge area with some cool couches. As you walk through, there is an open second room that has a small stage and tables with lots of seating. Behind that, is the back door to the patio, which also has a stage of its own, with plenty of tables and chairs to chill out. Its nice the hang out back there when the weather is nice. When it gets colder, they break out a fire pit. Cant beat drinking around a bonfire in the winter.
There is always live music throughout the week, a lot of the shows without a cover charge (even when there is a charge, its nominal) and it makes for a really cool atmosphere. Its not loud, so dont be afraid of a show if you are stopping in for a drink. There are also lots of beer nights, with tap take-overs, brewers hanging out, happy hour specials, etc etc.
Which brings me to the beer. The staff here is very dedicated to having a rotating selection with great variety and quality. I believe there are 16 taps, plus a nitro line, and a large selection of bottles (which are also swtiched up often). Always great local options, on top of stuff from all over the country and across the globe. Very farily priced, especially when you get a happy hour deal. There is a 30-in-30 club which is pretty cool, log 30 different beers within 30 days (bartenders verify), and you get a t-shirt and your name on a plaque, displayed above the bar.
Recently they have opened up a kitchen in the middle of all of this, and serve really good stuff. From a chicken pesto wrap, to clams casino, to burgers, to quesadillas, etc etc. Oh theres also wine, but no hard alcohol.
Basically, if you are in the area, you should check it out.
Went to this place about a year ago and they just had beer. A crazy beer BIBLE with all kinds of insanity on it, awesome selection and reasonable to cheap prices. Then I went about a month ago, they had taken over the store next to them, added a kitchen and added more taps. Now this place is just awesome! 16 taps and a crazy amount of bottles, with really good food, you really cannot go wrong. The crab cakes are made fresh that day, and are quite tasty! The fact that they have live music pretty much every night of the week is just a cherry on top. Check this place out!
