Had on tap at Savages in Muncie
L- pours dark brown with light tan lacing.
S- not picking up much on the nose
T- tastes like an ok oatmeal stout. There is an artificial flavor and slight sweetness that gets progressively worse to the point I didn’t want another one. Notes of cocoa, vanilla, malt.
F- a bit watery for the style
O- did a blind taste test between this and founders breakfast stout. Upon the first sip both were good. But very quickly the Founders distinguished itself by the more balanced flavor and thicker and darker lacing. Also, the Burn Em was way more watery. This was really fun, and I highly recommend the blind taste test; it can either challenge or reinforce deep-seated beer prejudices. In this case it made me appreciate how truly outstanding founders breakfast stout truly is.
Cheers!
