Tastes as dark as it can. More hazelnut than I usually run across, so enjoyed it being a little different. Recognized coffee taste, which I didn't know would be there but I suspect it might be with most darker beers.

Poor is black with a very thin, tan head.
Smells of coffee, vanilla, nut, and black licorice. Also sweet caramel Malt.
Nice, subtle coffee, dark malts, slight vanilla and hazel nut. Nice bitterness in the end.
Medium mouthfeel in which coffee and vanilla bean sticks around.

16oz can, served in a snifter glass. Pours a darker brown body, cola coloured with a one finger thick mocha head, short retention, thin collar, not much lacing. Smell is cascadian through and through; milk chocolate, a bit of lactose, slightly nutty with a fairly sharp resin and zest. Flavour is a bit more interesting, with milk chocolate, nuttiness, zest, a fair bit of grassy floral bitterness, with a creamy vanilla smoothness on the backend that soothes the bitterness. It does have a little bit of metallic twang at the beginning while it's cold, but that goes away after a short while. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, initially metallic up front, finishing with a milk chocolate and vanilla creaminess that helps balance out the bitterness, manifested as a slight char and resin. Overall, a solid cascadian; nothing too mindblowing and the adjuncts are complementary to the base beer, which I think is a good thing.

Bottled spring 2015; drank 5/16/15 @ the Yarchives.
Poured from the bottle into a glass.
Black/brown appearance.
Big dark khaki head; strong lace.
Vanilla extract notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Vanilla extract & mild brown sugar flavors. Drinkable but cloying & boring; I'm in no rush to have another.

16 ounce can into a snifter. Did not notice a canning date.
Pours a deep brown, opaque, with almost no head and very spotty lacing. Smells of malt, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, some coffee, a little smoke, a subtle nutty aroma. The taste also leads with the malt, then cocoa, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, some caramel and smoke. Picking out the hazelnuts more here, as well. Smooth, appropriate level of carbonation, could have a fuller body, but it's not thin.
Really good aroma, nice flavor, enjoyable to drink. Would have liked the hazelnuts and vanilla to stand out a little more in the taste. Worth a purchase.

Received as an extra, poured into my Duvel tulip.
A - Poured a nice dark brown almost black hue with a good one finger mocha head that faded relatively quickly to leave light lacing and a thin creamy blanket.
S - Aromas of black malts, light light almost grassy hops, very nice hazelnut creamer type aroma along with some lighter vanilla. There is a light, light metallic bitterness on the nose though.
T - Taste is similar to the nose, nice roasty black malts, most of that nutty coffee creamer flavour, vanilla is relatively subtle. Finish has a fair amount of generic bitterness going on. Aside from the bitterness there is no real hop presence.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, rather creamy and silky. Alcohol is hidden nicely.
O - Overall this wasn't a bad beer, certainly drinks more like a bitter american stout than anything. That being said this was certainly a tasty beer. Definitely enjoyable.
