This beer is a collaborative effort between two Christchurch breweries Raindogs and Golden Eagle and the beer isn't bad, but it dosent check all of the boxes either. While the rich but clear brown color of the beer and light tan head are very good, the smell is overwhelmed by grassy hops and toasted malt, rather like the nose of a black IPA, the flavor is also reminiscent of this style, possibly because of the elevated alcohol level for the style the beer could be a little too strong (something I normally don't say i know). however for that lofty 7.5% the beer goes down smooth and it is an interesting if a little too hoppy version of a classic english style.
