On tap at brewpub:
In a sampler glass this looked acdark brown; in a larger pour, it looks black. Creamy off white head firms a thick ring, and there's a little bit of lacing.

My initial thoughts with the sample was that this resembled a robust brown as much as a stout. The nose plays tricks with me - sometimes I do get a toasty to nutty note, but others it's definitely more roasted with a hint of char.

Taste does the same thing to me, but the toastiness is up front most sips, but the beer ends with a charred roast, definitively. I narrowed down to the notes on the front of the tongue didn't really get to coffee grounds, charred malt that the sides and back get.

Yes this is dry, and quite thin at 4.5%, but the bold flavors I get when I let the beer fill my mouth gives it a fuller impression.

A straightforward stout that is pretty dry. The bitterness appears to me to be mostly from the roasting.

Stark Irish Dry Stout | Canton Brewing Company. Served on tap at the brewery in a pint glass, this brew's got a two finger thick tan head, with solid lacing, and a deep reddish brown body.

I smell roasted malts with a tad bit of coffee.

Tastes alot like Guinness, maybe not as sweet and malty with a tad more bitterness than expected. Clean finish.

Medium mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

Overall, I'll rate Stark Irish Dry Stout | Canton Brewing Company with a 4.5

Stark Irish Dry Stout brewed by Canton Brewing Company, with an ABV of 4.50% This stout pours out a deep brown color with a small light brown color head. The brew has the look of cola not saying that is a bad thing. There is also a decent amount of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side well. The smell rich with roasted grians and malts. Some hints of coffee and sweetness. Now for the taste, it is bold with roasted grians and malts. You do pick up on some nice coffee and chocolate flavors as well in the taste. This brew goes down nice and smooth, there is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a super nice balance to it. I can't get over how smooth this brew goes down. Overall I'm Stark Irish Dry Stout a 4.5 out of 5. I would buy this brew again. Canton Brewing Company, did a real nice job with this one.
