the only reason i had this beer is because it was on tap at a bar i was in, and for whatever reason, the dude running the place wanted to get my take on it, reckoned it was awful and wanted it gone, i fully expected the worst based on his talk, but i know better from these guys, and i am glad i did drink some of this, because its way better than he was making it out to be, clean enough, golden and clear, holding a pure white head from the tap, bready but light, classic european grain base to it and a familiar german type lager yeast. sure its minimal on the hops, and based on its rate of sale apparently not all that fresh, but its not a bad lager, i felt bad for it as soon as i tasted it, because its better than they are making it sound, and its weird to hear something negative about these guys, because its been all sunshine and rainbows to me. i think the criticism was unfair, sure it could use a little more carbonation, maybe a sturdier bittering hop, and could be drier, but there are 100 worse takes on the style than this in the denver market right now, and it didnt deserve the smack talking against it. clean enough and flavorful from the grain, i dont need a whole lot more than this from my german style pils...
