A 500ml bottle with no apparent date purchased at the brewery in April of 2018. Basement cellared until being refrigerated a week ago. Poured in a shaker pint for the review.
Look- Pours a thin dark brown producing a couple centimeters of light tan foam that quickly recedes leaving no lacing behind.
Smell- Vanilla forward followed by whiskey, burnt brown sugar molasses and wood.
Taste- Vanilla, whiskey, cocoa, mild char and oak.
Feel- Thin, slightly hot and dry.
Overall- A very good barrel aged vanilla forward Russian imperial stout that would benefit with the addition of more lactose in my opinion. While there's a nice mix of vanilla, whiskey and oak, it is quite thin and hot in the feel leaving me just slightly disappointed. Still very good and worth your while. I'll revisit if it's brewed again.
