gorgeous art on the label, gorgeous beer in the bottle. not sure i have seen a bottled offering from these guys before now. this is a sour version of their peach ale, and its really very good. the sourness is pretty bracing, a high acid puckering thing that really is there from start to finish, but there is enough fresh ripe peach sweetness in this for the beer to come across as balanced, sour as it is. i get a tart peach and a peach candy here too, very full spectrum with the fruit, and they must have used a lot of it, as it rises up well above the grain in here, which is cerealy and minimal. some sweetness in the middle, but a lot of sour with the peach flavor, remarkable dry in the finish and with a cool white wine note to it. not a flavorless lacto thing, some real citrus and funk to it too. sharp and kind of briny to me, juicy fresh peach all the way through as well, and nice carbonation keeping it moving. i wish it wasnt quite so acidic, it makes it feel a little less delicate and fancy, but i think for a first stab at something like this (which i assume this is), they have done a great job. more wild character would be neat, a chardonnay barrel is waiting for it too somewhere i hope...
