El Jefe Caliente features prominent notes of chilis that expertly mingle with the locally roasted coffee, cinnamon, and nutmeg. A touch of lactose provides a smooth mouthfeel to balance out this well rounded imperial stout.

LOOK - really dark brown and nearly brown - nice frothy 3 finger head from a 12oz can - decent retention - dark khaki foam - nice lacing and foam ring persist
SMELL - chocolate, cinnamon, spice, charred wood, slight coffee
TASTE - right into cinnamon and spice - tastes pretty sweet at first - the sweet caramel and chocolate syrup start to fade, then the heat starts to creep in - it gets a bit warm for a beer - coffee is more apparent as you go - some black peppercorn and charred wood slip in just before trailing off
FEEL - nice and slick / oily and full bodied - stays carbonated enough throughout to stay interesting
OVERALL - I haven't been dissappointed with a 4 Noses brew yet - this one is one of my favorite 'mexican chocolate coffee' beers - decent amount of heat - great flavor - nice complex spiciness - well balanced between sweetness and bitter dark chocolate and burnt grains

Nearly opaque black body; decent light tan and frothy head. Big aroma comprised of chili pepper, cinnamon, and cocoa. Milk chocolate taste sets in immediately with the chili pepper building up slowly and boldly; cinnamon spice sits in the background and nicely complements the malt sweetness and chili burn. Heavy body; slick and smooth; starts out feeling sweet with the residual sugars while the chili peppers steadily take over with some fine, biting heat.
I didn't get much coffee in the smell or taste, but in many ways, I don't see it as being needed for this chili stout. The beer is rich and satisfying, presenting a lot of depth with all of its ingredients. Again, personally, I got very little coffee, but still find this beer to be awesome all the same.
