2015 release (2014 brew aged in Tennessee whiskey barrels).
Pours a nice head, not a lot of retention, but that's understandable at this strength. Shows some nice leg.
Sherry-like aroma has plenty of booze, some nice wood, with an underlying fruitiness.
Flavours of figs, dates, vanilla, raspberry, plum, hints of roasted nut and wood.
Perfect body, with a slight residual sweetness and some drying alcohol warmth.
I'm seriously impressed with this. I've had far too many brews that've been ruined by barrels, but this is one of the few that have come out even stronger.
That was one of the best brews I had all year.
2016 release (2015 aged in tequila barrels), wasn't nearly as good, not rated.
