Thankfully the hops didn't get in the way of the malt, Brett and barrel flavours. Really great balance and drinkability for a brew of this strength. Nicely done!

Believe it. This beer is not only category/genre bending, but it's delicious. Drinks nowhere near the ABV (10 percent), yet has so much complexity - hops (of course, along with whiskey, vanilla, chocolate, but then the Brett comes through with a dryness, or maybe better put: crispness. This isn't on tap all the time at Baere, but when it is I'll order it again and again. A fine beer.

this thing is simply stunning. hands down one of the best beers in denver right now, or ever. i had no idea these guys have come so far since their opening, this is truly next level. apparently a blend of a couple of browns aged in local laws whiskey barrels with brett. the base beer might be near 10% alcohol, but it isnt hot at all. i should start with the look though, this is shiny dark dark chocolate brown, with a radiant luster and a full inch of pure white fluff on top and spilling over the edges. looks alive, not like a barrel aged relic. it smells great, the brett is pungent, not sure which strain, but its funky and fresh at the same time, and not at all lost to the other bold flavors in this. the brown is a really sturdy base beer, but not as sweet as i thought it would be, more of a dry cocoa profile, and more roast than most, pushing porter or something, pretty deep and impressive. the alcohol doesnt show through in the least either, scary drinkable for its strength. the real surprise for me is the hops. smells like galaxy or something regionally similar. tropical and juicy and as boldly dosed as everything else. shocking how well it works, you almost would think there would be too much going on for hops to fit in this, but they have somehow made it work, and its absolutely tremendous. not real bitter on the hops at all, more of a vanilla whiskey finish to this, but its all dried up from the brett, so the hops and the funk somehow outlast the other flavors, resulting in a really dynamic finish that was unpredictable until the very end. the interaction of the wood and the whiskey and the brett and the hops and the huge delicious base beer is all so well balanced, dialed in meticulously, and i am totally blown away by this. i am going to go back and drink more at my first convenience. for my money right now, this is the best beer pouring in the state of colorado. really and truly!
