i didnt love this one, a nelson sauvin spiked edition of their mixed fermentation saison, lightly puckery but super clean lacto sort of souring, only moderate acidity and not too sour that a whole bottle doesnt seem like a good dose. i like the nelson in the nose, its obviously nelson, which is one of my favorite hops, but i think the hops are so prominent that some of the unique grain and yeast nuance of the base beer is covered up. their saison by itself is amazing, and i lose some of the rye and wheat layers here, as well as the funkiness of the saison strain they use. i like the nelson, i mean, white wine and peach and lemon notes to it, all very fresh, but its not as delicate as i think makes sense for the beer, others may disagree. i also get a touch of that cat pee thing i often get from mosaic, especially in the nose, not something i have known in nelson before, but its definitely here. lemons and limes and white wine to finish, plenty juicy and fruity, but despite being more process intensive, this is a much less complex beer overall than other iterations of their classic saison. good not great for me, even with the vibrant nelson hops in here, i prefer the original by leaps and bounds!
