heady new england ipa with citra, simcoe, and motueka, a beautiful combination in a beer thats not too sedimented or dense, but summery and drinkable. i always count on these guys for a high level of refinement, and they again deliver here. this is one of my favorite hoppy beers i have ever had in here, a pleasure to share it with my former neighbor and forever friend. the simcoe is a cool addition, it would be lacking something with out it, i feel like the pine and grapefruit oily bitterness its so well known for keep this one in the ipa realm, not going full juice bomb, and i appreciate that these days, where more and more of these hazy types all taste the same, and nothing like the ipas i grew up on, this one bridges the gap well. the citra has lemongrass and even dill notes here, while the motueka is white grape, ripe guava, and even soft lime zest, all real bright and fresh. a grain base here i have experienced a million times already, but they did a better job than most at keeping it light but retaining the elements that help carry all the dry hopping, great technique and recipe on display here. in the end, i guess its not all that different, but it tastes and feels a degree or three more tidy and refined than most of them, and this is a great continuation of my love affair with this most underrated brewery. really solid modern ipa here!
