L: bright amber under a lacy 1/2" light cream colored cap
S: aromas of light toast, bread crust, medium hops, hints of resin and pine
T: Lightly sweet bread crust leads the flavors meeting citrus and resin hop flavors and a drying, tea like bitterness by mid-palate
F: The body and carbonation are medium
O: a flavorful, refreshing amber lager.

an nicely done amber here, flavorful and fresh on the grain side of things, and really well hopped, almost more of a red ipa really. clear brick red in color, with over an inch of airy tan head from the tap. nice fresh spruce aroma with a little orangey citrus in there. a toasted malt sweetness, caramelization, and richness to the malt base in nose and taste, but a surprising lack of residual sugar in the end considering the depth of flavor and the style. good amount of piney hops in the taste, ramping up bitterness towards the finish, but it isnt ever too aggressive, just balanced by the later stages. fluffy feel, more weight to this than some of their others, but its also nicely carbonated. this seems more like a fall and winter beer than a spring and summer one, its like comforting and warming for being lower in alcohol. an easy beer to drink two or three pints of, and definitely my favorite beer i have had from these guys so far, who appear to be increasingly popular around the twin cities. just different enough to stand out from this crowded style category. nicely done!

16 ounce tall boy into a nonic ten ounce glass.
Pours a dark amber with a healthy head. Excellent clarity.
Smell shows some strong caramel malts and has a piquant quality that reminds me of rye, but there's also the lemony quality and slight pine that the can boasts of. I like.
Flavor is a bit of an enigma for me, with so much swirling around there it loses some of the cleanness that makes a great lager a great lager. Starts off with that caramelly, bready and a bit spicy malt quality, then segues into citrusy territory and shows some zesty bite.
Again, lacking a bit of the lager cleanness, but it's enjoyable enough and has some pronounced flavors to enjoy.

Canned on 3/14/16.
Big cereal grain and rye presence with citrus/floral hopping in both aroma and flavor. Caramel malts are there but balanced with creamy mouthfeel. Super beer.

Smell: An earthy and juicy hop forward aroma with a scent of citrus, pine, and caramel. Nice citrus hop hints of grapefruit, orange, and lemon. Earthy hop hints of pine and grass along with floral hints. Toasted malt with hints of caramel, biscuit, and toast with some yeast. A pretty solid Red aroma.

Toasted barley malt with notes of caramel, grains, biscuit, and toast along with yeast. Nicely bitter. A pretty nice taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy and fairly oily with a drying finish.
Overall: A very good hoppy Red Ale. Nice mix of citrus and piney hops with caramel malt.
