This beer pours a clear ruby amber with a large head. The aroma offers up chocolate, toffee, date, walnuts, and peat. The flavor features dry toffee, mild smokiness, peat, seaweed, iodine, and chocolate on the finish. The mouthfeel is soft and full bodied with big, foamy carbonation. Ovrall this is a decent beer with a hint of smokiness contasted with a big creamy feel.

Both the aroma and taste are dominated by caramel, dark fruit (figs?) and spicy hops. Nice malts overall, somewhat sweet, but dries up nicely on the finish.

Maybe my favorite Bauhaus beer. They describe it perfectly on the can...bigger than scottish export ale and not quite a wee heavy....
I get a caramel, candied maltiness that is really enjoyable....not oversweet...some hints of dark fruit but not much smokiness at all....finishes drier than you'd expect...
I really like this beer. A lot of malt flavor comes through....pretty true to style for a scottish beer which is different than their German offerings which are not close to style (although some are plenty tasty)

Once released from the can, it casts a reddish brown tint, with a slim, lacey beige head.
Malt-forward, earthy aromatics. Mild espresso and anise notes, more along the lines of toffee and such. Nice.
In the mouth: very filling and malt-driven. Rich and just slightly sweet. Caramel and toffee coats the palate, with hints of chocolate, bitter and sweet coming in afterward. Long, malty finish. Delicious. Man, I can drink this one, all 16 ounces. I'll surely be drinking more through the winter.

The look is hazy brown, a true-to-style Scottish Ale. Smell is of malt and english yeast. Taste is crisp, lighter than you'd expect. Feel - quaffable, leaves you wanting more. Overall, i really injoy this beer and am happy to have it around late winter early spring on tap @boroughmpls

Light brown color with a finger of head that slowly settles to a thin cap. Moderate amount of sticky lacing is left down the glass. Nice aroma that has caramel, toffee, earth, floral, and herbal qualities. The flavor follows suit but there is also a bit of a hard candy aftertaste. I really liked the herbal qualities present. Medium body and nicely carbonated makes this an easy drinking, cold weather beer.
I have drank a lot of 4-packs of this beer this winter. Turning into one of my favorite winter seasonals.

brown. it's brown. not much more to speak of there.
smell is toasted bread and some yeast.
taste is the same. toasty, with some malt sweetness and a touch of bitter at the end.
mouth is dry.
it's not bad. not in love with it, but it's good for what it is.
