Bauhaus/Schell's collaboration Hot Topic pours a clear light gold color. The head is small, but leaves a little cap of foam. The aroma is very hoppy. There is a lot of noble hop spiciness, some pine resin, juniper, and some faint floral notes. The taste is similarly hoppy. The spiciness from the aroma holds through to the taste with some citrus fruit coming to light. The maltiness that is usually found in a pils is hidden in this beer, but with the beer being described as a 'New Zealand hopped pils' I'm looking more for hops and less for following style guidelines. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a velvety texture and carbonation that is a tad too light for a pils. Overall, this is a fine beer from to mighty fine breweries. I am glad I got the opportunity to taste it.
