Bleatboxer is a smooth, strong dark lager that emphasizes the malty-rich and somewhat toasty qualities of fine European malts without a sweet finish. With little-to-no hop flavor or aroma, this bock is all about the malt ... and goats. You see, bock beer was first brewed in the German town of Einbeck and eventually found its way to Munich. Due to their thick Bavarian accents, Munich citizens pronounced Einbeck as “ein BOCK” or “billy goat.” With that in mind, we arrived at Bleatboxer for this warming German bock

Finally, a bock at a micro-brewery!
Deep auburn/chestnut appearance. Sweet and medium heavy, roasted malt and grain, and some allspice in the aroma. Enjoyable, medium dark roast, sweet grain, to the taste. Medium bodied.

Can. Dark caramel brown. Khaki tan head.
A solid bock. Bready and caramel malts. Biscuity. Earthy hops. A little bitterness to go with the malts. Smooth and easy drinking lager.

12oz can. Stamping on bottom canning date is '09/24/2020'.
Ruby brown colored body. Slight off white head, which moves to a partial cap. Leaves some partial rings of lacing.
Aroma is roasted and caramel malts. Expresses a bit of dark fruit, more prune than raisin.
Taste brings in chocolate as a flavor, along with the caramel malts. Has some dark fruit tang. Slight touch of hop spice.
Thinner mouth feel. Has some numbing effect on the tongue. Appears to have very good carbonation.
Full flavored lager, and expresses more sweet than any bitterness.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden burgundy color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left some sudsy lacing on the glass. It smelled of toffee, roasted malt and grasses. Sweet maltiness with toffee and caramel. Mild bitterness and smooth finish.

Appearance: Pours a dark, maple syrup color with a red hue. A deep, tan head. SRM of 19. (4.00)
Aroma: Mild aromas. Dark malt, caramel, molassess. May have hints of dark fruit. Very balanced and mild. Nothing stands out. (3.25)
Flavor: Flavor follows the nose with mild flavors of dark malts. Some hints of cherry, caramel, and sweet bread. No bitterness. Slight sweet bread, malty finish. Finishes on the sweet side. Vague flavors. (3.50)
Feel: Medium-bodied. Low carbonation. A mild sweetness lingers on the palate inviting another sip. (3.75)
Compared to Trader Joes Winter Lager (Doppelbock) 1/5/20: Pours a slightly darker color.
Overall: Pretty basic and simple. I guess it fits the bock style. Tame, simple, and malty. It just lacks flavor for my liking. Sort of like a winter warmer without the spice. Not my favorite of the sampler pack, but it fits the style. (Final Rating: 3.50)

This is a straightforward, well executed Bock. All about tlhe malt character, with just a tinge of hops for counterbalance. Finishes fairly dry despite the malt profile. It is nice to get a standard Bock in the winter; they are becoming too uncommon.

Always excited to see new bocks on the market. This is a good one with notes of dark fruits, bread and a dusting of cocoa powder. Hops just keep the sweetness in check. Very enjoyable. Would love to see this come out in 6 or 12 packs in the spring.

Now in 12 oz cans, 6 packs sold by itself (1/2/2021)
Look: Nice looking beer, Transparent reddish amber body. Nice tall fine head that leaves plenty of lacing. head is light tan color.
Taste is some bread/toast, dry chocolate, stone washed dark fruit that is mild (not raisin).
Smooth beer. Starts out just slightly sweet but finishes dry.
Ok feel might be slightly thin.
This beer is ok not great but I'm satisfied with it. 3.81/5 overall.
