Brewed in collaboration with our friends at Hammerheart Brewing Company. Crisp and light-bodied in spite of the dark color and malty profile. Rounded out by a generous helping of beechwood smoked malt.

Appearance: Pours a nearly completely black color, mild tan head. SRM of 23. (3.50)
Aroma: Strong aromas of smoke and some dark grains. Smoked ham, meats, hints of cocoa. (3.50)
Flavor: Strong dark flavors of grains, smoked meat, toasted. Yeasty. (3.75)
Feel: Medium-bodied, finishes smokey. (3.75)
Compared to Köstritzer Schwarzbier 1/2023: Pours similar, milder head. More smokey and meaty flavors. Less dark grains.
Compared to BlackStack Required Reading 1/2023: Pours similar, milder head. More smokey and meaty flavors. Less dark grains.
Overall: Very nicely done here. The smokiness is present, but not overpowering and fits quite nicely with the dark grains and cocoa flavors. The key is not overly done with the smoke. A little too meaty, but otherwise the smoke adds a nice flavor here. (Rating: 3.73+)

From a 16oz can:
Appearance: Dark brown, good head.
Smell: Roasty with a hint of smoke
Taste: Moderate roasted flavor, a little bit of chocolate and little bit of smoke. Creamy feel. More smoke comes through on the finish, meaty.
Overall: I had to try this one since Hammerheart is my favorite brewery and since they've been on hiatus, I'm craving the smoky goodness. This collaboration with Bauhaus is tasty stuff, nice creamy feel and mix of roasty and smoky flavors. Easy drinking stuff, super tasty!

Pours a dense mohogany color with some crimson highlight and a mocha fresh head. Smell has roasted malts, nice campfire smoke malts some vanilla . Taste follows the nose ,the smoke and roasted malts are just right it compliments the lager . A creamy mouth feel with lingering smoke in every sip not overpowering just right . The smoked malts and creamy soft finish in this is delicious. Superb.

16oz can. No dating information found, but this is a new release.
Deep brown colored body, with some ruby brown back lit highlights. One thick finger of muddy tan head. Partial walls and spots of lacing left behind.
Aroma is smoky roasted malts. Some bacon and campfire smoke.
Taste completely follows with the nose. Dark roasted malts that have been smoked. Has a bit of citrus and floral hops. All fades off together in the aftertaste.
Luxurious and thicker than medium mouth feel. Also kind of silky. Supportive carbonation.
Excellent smoke level for nose and flavor. Well balanced, with a enjoyable mouth feel. This one is well done.
