A- Well, the can was awfully hard, so luckily, my gut feeling was correct in that this is particular can was VERY much overcarbonated......when the foam finds its way out when you only 'cracked' the tab says something, and then a small pour provides not only multiple fingers, but literally an entire hands' worth of puffy dense head, that says something! Now, once it starts settling, I am left with what is still many fingers worth of light tan colored puff, that does settle down in decent fashion, and looks more like bubble bath in texture the longer you watch it. The brew itself is dark chocolate in color, doesn't appear to be as heavy as other stouts I've had, and the lacing leaves behind a sticky looking film around the inside of my stout glass. Man....this is gonna be a long pour, as every tiny amount I carefully add to my glass adds a mountain of bubbles! May have to drink most of this one from the can!

S- I get the traditional black coffee, dark chocolate, charred malt, dry biscuit, and damp Earthy aromas one would expect out of a style such as this....hints of sweet caramel/toffee/molasses, and on the finish, a slightly hopped bitterness blended with campfire smokiness.

T- The flavors follow suit to the aromas rather well, and after careful blending of under and over carbonated fare, I get what I think allows the proper profile to emerge.....plenty of French press black coffee notes, with creamy hits and a slight chicory sweetness.....cocoa powder/high percentage dark chocolate, subtle charred smoke and a finish that is of Pacific Northwest hop bitterness and Earthiness. Overall the flavor profile is nice and leans much more into what I would consider a proper Dry Irish Stout style....comparisons to Beamish come to mind!

M/O- Ok, so due to the length of time it takes to let the over carbonated liquid settle, I decided to have a mouthful straight up....and.....this is like those pop rock candies, or like experiencing a science experiment in my mouth!.....liquid turns almost instantly into gassy foam upon any contact with a surface....weird yet amazing to have happen! Once the brew settles in my glass, it has lost almost all carbonation, which in itself is not quite ideal to me, but completely opposite from the alternative. It is thin bodied and if the mix was right with the C02, I think would be a highly drinkable product! Oh well, I'll have to try this one again sometime and hope the batch is better, as I don't think this is a bad beer....just hard to gauge properly!

473ml can poured in a tulip. Enjoyed this one at 7am on a Monday after a long night shift. Always excited to try new local beers.

Pours a dark brown, almost black cola like colour with a half inch decently fluffy head.

Some sweet scents right off the bat and tastes of black coffee and unsweetened chocolate.

Overall a great beer for the style and as always happy to support the local guys.

Jet black colour, lots of lacing on the side of the glass, the roasted malt flavour is very prominent and upfront, overall a pretty solid example of what a stout should be.

Appearance - Pours a dark chocolate brown with three fingers of foamy mocha head.

Smell - Roasted malts, roasted coffee bean, cocoa nib, caramel, earthy hops, and a hint of campfire smoke.

Taste - Strong roasted flavours of malts and coffee beans, along with earthy bitterness from hops.

Mouthfeel - Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation. Dry finish.

Overall - If you are looking for a dry and non-sweet stout, this is a good brew for you to try. Strong roasted malt flavour dominates this stout. Another solid offering from the folks at Postmark.

473ml can - I wonder how this one differs from their Dry Irish Stout.

This beer pours a fairly solid black, with prominent basal amber highlights, and a teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and creamy tan head, which leaves some decent dissipating cloud form lace around the glass as it slowly sinks away.

It smells of roasted bready and doughy caramel malt, bittersweet cocoa powder, mild cafe-au-lait notes, a further free-range ashiness, and some rather tame earthy, weedy, and musty hop bitters. The taste is semi-sweet, grainy and bready caramel malt, wet char, medium-dark chocolate, a bit of earthy anise spice, heavy cream, weak day-old coffee, and more understated leafy, weedy, and floral green hoppiness.

The carbonation is quite laid-back in its insouciant frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally smooth, with a low-key creaminess seeping in as things warm up a tad around here. It finishes off-dry, the caramel, cocoa, coffee, and roasted essences predominating.

Overall - this comes across as more of an American-leaning example of the style, what with the well-rounded sweetness. Tasty, and very easy to drink, as the sub-normal ABV is noticeable in a good way, in that the mouthfeel does not suffer in the least. Good stuff.
