On tap at GABS festival in Melbourne, May 2014.
Pours an amber-reddish colour with gorgeous thick, beige head, just creamy goodness on top a nice-coloured beer. Looks awesome.
Smells...eeurgh. So much sour and so much sweetness in one aroma. Sickly vanilla character with a touch of grass and red wine vinegar on the back. Lots of sour and sweetness but neither in a good way. Touch of diacetyl as well.
Taste is a lot better, that sour note has disappeared leaving just the sweetness which is also just better controlled. Caramel malt note upfront develops that sharp spike of vanilla sweetness midway, finishes clean and herbal with a fairly subtle residual sweetness. Quite pleasant, really, but not amazing.
Too fizzy on the mouthfeel, carbonation just cuts through everything like a horny viking.
Not too bad, just a bit uninteresting. I'm not really a fan of the style, and this hasn't really changed my mind.
