Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy, medium to dark orange-red amber with a healthy two finger light khaki head with good retention and lacing, looks like a red ale should. Aroma of caramel malt with light biscuit, dry grassy hops, slightly vegetal. Flavor is biscuit malt with light caramel, grassy and dry hay hops, finishing malty with a pleasant light toastiness reminiscent of a dry porter. Medium bodied with a hint of creaminess and good carbonation. A nice malty red ale, bordering on an old ale profile, but not quite as intense. Not as much light fruit as many red ales, but the malt is interesting enough that it stands on its own. Finish of light toasty, biscuit malt well melded with the light dry grassy hops. I like red ales but it's rare to find a new one; this was a welcome find from a brewery that is new to me too. I'm interested to see what else they have to offer.
