a tasty little fall seasonal here, like a pumpkin beer without the overt pumpkin, deep red type malts, a cinnamon and clove spice note, a little grain sugar, perhaps an english essence to the yeast, simple in a way, and it all sort of hits at once, but its well made beer, drier in the end than a lot of these are, unique with the subtle yeast element, and not overly spiced despite obviously including some seasonal ingredients in this regard, i think a nice introduction to the brewery this time of year. the malt has a caramelized thing, but its quickly resolved, there is enough balance here, and i think the high carbonation and cold serving temperature help it drink a little easier than these often do. i like the grain and spices together, this is well constructed and well executed, and its oddly crisp for what it is, almost a lager vibe even, hard to imagine, but its true when its nice and cold. i liked the couple of beers we had in here, i know its hard to stand out in such a strong scene in this part of the world, but these guys appear to be doing a really nice job with some relatively ambitious recipes. well worth a visit if you are in the area!
