Bourbon Barrel Aged Pyrolysis

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin khaki head that dissipates to tiny patches with slight lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, bourbon, light biscuit, molasses and cocoa. Flavor is dark toasted malt, vanilla, bourbon, woody oak, dry caramel. Woody finish with bourbon. Medium bodied with light creaminess. There is great bourbon character here and clear barrel oakiness, but the malt body is a bit thin for the size of this stout, leaving the woodiness somewhat stark in the finish. A satisfactory barrel aged stout, but not quite a Russian stout malt body.
