As you know, we are quite keen on comic books here at Southern Pines Brewing, especially the ones about superheroes. Now a staple of the superhero mythology, there’s the superhero and the alter ego. Of these characters, Mamba Bajamba stands alone. Mamba Bajamba didn’t become a sour stout. Mamba Bajamba was born a sour stout! A gargantuan amount of tart cherries changed her, and now she is bad to the core! She’s a killer. A natural born killer. She might try to disguise herself as a normal stout, but she’s not. She’s a renegade stout, and nothing in the world would ever change that.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear very dark cola brown in color with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising quickly along the edges of the glass and moderate chestnut brown colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall fizzy foamy tan head that reduces to a large patch of very thin film covering a little more than 95% of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of roasted malts, chocolate malts, coffee, and tart cherries. Very light amounts of earthy hops in the background.
T: Upfront there are just shy of moderate flavors of roasted malts + chocolate malts with a light hint of caramel sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of coffee and slightly stronger than moderate flavor of tart cherries. Hints of earthy hops and a hint of bitterness which fades away almost instantly leaving a moderate lingering acidic tartness.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Just shy of moderate amounts of acidic prickliness.
O: A very interesting concept behind the beer but it feels like the different parts are a little out of balance for my palate - I like it but I'm not sure I would get it again and maybe a half pour would have been enough.

Look: It pours dark brown with burgundy hues. It has low head retention and the head is off white.
Smell: It has aromas of tart cherries and some chocolate. There are also some earthly elements in the background.
Taste: There are flavors of chocolate and roast with cherry flavors. It is rather tart and a bit mouth puckering. There are some earthly flavors low, in the background.
Feel: It has a very tart feel and a moderate body. The tart and sourness a long lasting.
Overall, this is an interesting sour ale in that in combines the flavors from a stout with tart cherries.

Pours black with ruby hues. Thin head.
Not much on the nose. Pepsi cola carbonation smell mainly.
Holy cow - the taste is off the chain. Tart cherries, sour funk, a blue cheesy kind of funk. Love it. Mostly super tart cherries, but I taste some dark plum fruit flavors.
I love sours. Reminds me of love child #7. Love this beer. Sort of one dimensional - but super nice character.
Highly recommend.

Looks like a glass of Coke with a fizzy head that dissipates quickly. No lacing is left behind. The aroma is a giant blast of coffee with some faint cherry and sourness in the background. The taste Is coffee but the sour and cherry are way more evident than they are in the smell. This beer is really unique and tasty. All of these flavors work together.
