Imperial Coffee Blond Stout
Sure, most of us enjoy our cup of coffee to wake us up in the morning. Why not treat yourself to something decadent later in the day? This is no ordinary cup of joe, our blonde vanilla latte is rich and smooth.

Gem clear, bright copper (SRM 11-13). Tiny bubbles of carbonation dance randomly throughout. A 2" off-white head forms from the tiny bubbles, casually receding to a thick ring over several minutes.
A Willy Becher Pint glass seems to showcase the tiramisu aroma nicely. There is little sweetness and clear notes of cappuccino and vanilla. Mild roasted malt and caramel round it out.
The roasted malt is first to express itself, followed by the cappuccino and powdered chocolate. Vanilla is late. Mild bitterness is a step ahead of the sweetness. Warmth adds hazelnut syrup. The finish is long, strong, and becomes unpleasant beckoning another sip to stave it off.
The watery texture is a bit out of place, especially given the medium body. Alcohol is as anticipated. Carbonation has a prickly feel.
Some of the "Golden Stouts" are pretty good and interesting. This one is at the higher end of the spectrum, and I would like to see the brewers more fully explore the concept. It would be a shame for this idea to fall victim to gimmickry and fad culture.

Poured from a 16 oz can bought in North Carolina.
L - Color is a deep gold; not a true blonde, but it certainly does not look like a stout. Off-white head is moderately thick at first, but quickly disappears except for a ring around the glass.
S - Delicious aromas of coffee, vanilla, roast grains and cream. The latte connection is definitely obvious in the nose. The roasted grains are at a very low level, so I'm not sure I'd call it a stout in a blindfolded sniff test, maybe more like a cream ale brewed with coffee. Regardless, it smells delicious.
T - The flavors strongly remind me of coffee with sweet cream. There is little to remind you that this is a beer, and it does not taste much like a stout, but it is very tasty in a unique way.
F - Medium to heavy body with a lingering sweetness in the mouth. Low carbonation. Hops bitterness at a very low level. Moderate alcohol presence.
O - The can describes this beer as a Vanilla-Roasted Imperial Coffee Blonde Stout. I find it to be a sweet, coffee and cream bomb that is unlike any stout I've had; however, it is enjoyable.
