2-row barely forms the backbone of this usually winter season brewed beer, along with Vienna and aromatic malts. This stronger brewed, hop-forward ale is hopped with exclusively Pacific Northwest Centennial hops, boasting 108 IBU’s. Our Southern Giant’s big, bold, full malt forward flavor is balanced with vibrant citrus and soft pine flavors and aromas

On tap at the Community Tap in Greenville, SC.
Clear, orange-copper colored body with a reasonably good head for a barleywine. This is delicious but a bit hot and boozy. Likely to improve with age. Leans towards the sweet side of barleywines.

Look: It pours dark amber with an off white head. Head retention is good.
Smell: Strong citrus aromas with malt mixed together. The malt aromas feature some biscuit and toast. In addition there some pine and earthly notes.
Taste: It has strong biscuit, toast, and citrus flavors. The citrus has a definitive orange flavor to it. There are also some cherry elements with pine and earth.
Feel: It has strong, but pleasant alcohol warming. It has a full body, but not quite in the chewy arena.
Overall, a different, but very well put together barleywine.
