Olhão 16/7 2016. 33 cl from Oriente Modelo Supermarket. Very black and serious looking label. It probably has to look this way to be adequately "Robust".
Pours opaque dark brown with light beige head. Lively carbonation Makes it look like a Coca Cola when you pour it. Head disappears right after pouring - exactly like a coke. No lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a coffee bitterness and roastiness. A more subdued toffee sweetness.
Soft carbonation and thick creamy palate.
Flavor is well balanced. Medium strong sweetness followed by bitter sour coffee. Bitterness lingers in aftertaste. Slightly dry finish.
I missed a little additional sweetness - but certainly a "Robust Porter".

A: The body is an opaque black with a soft, mellow and small sized yellow head proving to have lots of retention and making some lacing.
S: In the smell you feel a small hint of hops with toffee and a slight tone of coffee.
T: This is where you can distinguish roasted malt flavor from coffee, this beer totally has coffee in it. Half way there for me to bow down to this beer.
M: A truly nice carbonation level mixed with a not-so-strong-as-expected hoppiness which should be a bit higher. Yet, gorgeous.
O: The first portuguese Porter I've fell in love with. A remarkable date today.

Review according to BJCP2008 guidelines (style 12B). Bottle 50 cl. Batch L028 18C. AROMA: roasty aroma with background DMS that overpowers. no hop, esters or diacetyl aromas. APPEARANCE: black opaque color with a thin tanned head with medium-low retention. TASTE: black malt character that finishes dry with a strong, overly burnt character. low to none bitterness with no esters or diacetyl. some DMS flavor present and no hop flavor discernible. PALATE: medium-low body with low carbonation. OVERALL: an overly burnt robust porter that lacks a bit of complexity and with DMS present. A good try nonethless.
