Poured to a snifter glass.
A: The body is brown to coppery, having a light hue. The head is two fingers thick, beige and with an amazing retention, density and lacing.
S: The aroma is filled with barley, wheat malt (my guess) and tons of sugary contents, much like belgian candi. Smelling good so far.
T: The taste begins with a high sugary content, incoming from the manually introduced sugar having awesome hints of toffee. Just right after, the malt flavour starts building in and finishes with a smooth sweet finish. Great barleywine, really good.
M: Body is medium. Carbonation is perfect. Alcohol is noticed in the mid-tongue. Finish is mildly bitter and sweet at the same time.
O: Maldita is showing the world that they can indeed master the barleywine styles. First came the English Barleywine, very good. Then, Wheatwine, still one of the best barleywines I've ever had that inclusively won a Gold Medal on WBA. And now, this American Barleywine is genius. Congratulations Gonçalo, you've made it.
