Nightfall Lager pours a dark brown, with not much head. Aroma sweet, cereal notes. Flavor is sweet, a hint of smoke, hint of roasted cereal. Good body and feel. Overall, its a very simple beer, but very tasty, a bit sweet.

This is a 12oz. bottle poured into a Pecatonica pint glass. There is a thin cap of tan foam that left almost instantly. This is a cola colored lager but without much carbonation.
The aroma is a nice roasted, sweet, malt aroma. A little cocoa nib maybe?
The flavor follows the nose, a roasted dry start, then the sweetness, closing with some bitter hops at the end.
The feel is thin, very light carbonation.
This lager tastes fine, it is sweet with a slight bitter dry finish. I will need to investigate this style more.

Be aware that Pecatonica is no longer contract brewed by Minhas, so the sickly sweet taste noted in previous reviews is gone. I've had this on tap in a pint glass and a 12 ounce bottle. The beer is consistent either way. Creamy dark beer goes down smooth with hints of chocolate and a nice malty body. Hops are present and pleasant but not overpowering. Has a nice coffee finish, and the overall smooth character belies the 5.9 abv. Fantastic beer, give it a try!

Aroma has a slight soapiness.
Taste shows a slight roast and a more than slight sweetness. Initial sips detected off putting earthiness, and a touch of butter.
Mouthfeel is thick and slick, also suggestive of diacetyl?
Didn’t match my standards. Several flavors indicative of rushed or incomplete fermentation?

As soon as I tasted it I thought Minhas...except the Pecatonica website claims they are a brew pub. After a little snooping around on the internet I found an article that confirmed my suspicion, http://www.isthmus.com/daily/article.php?article=40598.
That in itself would not be a problem except for some reason pretty much all Minhas beers taste overly sweet (and this one is no exception), whether it's a lager or sweet stout. Not sure if there is something wrong with their process or if it's intentional.
To clarify, when I say 'sweet' I mean it tastes like someone added a few packets of Equal at bottling; not a desireable attribute in beer.
