November 2013: On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Dryish aroma of juniper and woodwork, with some mild roasty notes and maybe a hint of smoke. Dry flavour, mild roasted malts, very moderate hops. Easy drinking.

Neutral brown color; no notable haze. Small head. The intial spots for lace disappear fairly quickly.
A bit of burnt toast and charred barbeque meat. Attractive and subtle but very unusual.
The flavor is more traditional than the smell. I find the hop to be more pronounced than true Brown Ales (closer to its American cousin). Lots of chocolate malt. Semi-sweet. Full bodied for the style, softer carbonation.
